We can help with elder law cases

Updated: Sep 27, 2022

Most of us never think of the term elder law. After all, it is only for the elderly. But, what may bring this term into focus is not just when we become elderly, but also when we are caring for our elderly parents or family members.

What is elder law?

Elder law refers to those areas of the law that primarily affect the elderly, like medical care, financial aid, estate planning, elder abuse, etc. This, of course, does not mean that these types of law are elder exclusive. Instead, when speaking of elder law, we are simply referring to the laws relevant to the elderly, their families and their caregivers.

Elder law planning

At The Law Offices of Nicole J. Zuvich, P.C., our focus on Elder Law Planning makes our firm unique, and it has given our firm the special incite on how to deal with this sensitive area of law. We approach ever case tactfully and carefully, giving special attention to our clients and their family members’ needs. We understand that, as people age, they will no longer be able to take care of their own needs, which is why Elder Law Planning is so important now.

How we can help

There are many ways to help craft Elder Law Plans. But, we work with families to craft an individualized plan for each particular client. We do not use cookie-cutter online documents. Instead, we individually craft advance directive documents, like Health Care Proxies, Wills, Trusts and Powers of Attorney. This includes Medicaid and Long-Term Care Planning, Guardianship, Probate and Real Estate Planning.

Guardianship?

Since we have a wealth of experience in this area, we have a particular focus on guardianship because we know that families rarely plan for their aging family members that may require assistance and care, especially when they become incapacitated. When this happens, we can go to Guardianship Court and fight for our clients, but preferably, we want to help families avoid much of this process by building a guardianship plan.

Experience

Over the years, our firm has become adept at litigating elder law cases and elder law planning. We understand the delicate interplay of inheritance, tax, guardianship rules, Medicaid rules, and other potential issues that can and will adversely affect an incapacitated person, if no planned for accordingly.
